Our Studio

We’re a small, close-knit team working together to create beautiful, naturalistic and site-specific landscapes that respond to client needs, while challenging conventional ideas about gardens as ‘controlled’ spaces.

Our approach balances an artistic sensibility, a passion for plants, and a practical need to create gardens that respond to the environmental realities of our time.

In this era of ecological crisis, we believe that beauty is not enough, and that gardens should nourish not just the people who inhabit them, but the wildlife and insects that share those spaces.

We love to limit the carbon footprint of our work using reclaimed and local materials, and we’re most excited by projects where we get to fill as much space as possible with joyful, bio-diverse plantings.

Every decision we make is grounded in a deep understanding of how natural environments affect human emotions, a sense of place, and respect for country. We aim to respond sensitively and aesthetically to the atmosphere, mood and climate of a site.

The common thread through our team is a desire to create beautiful environments which bring people close to nature, allowing them to experience the restorative qualities of being immersed in spaces that are just a little bit wild.

About Tim Pilgrim

Based in Central Victoria, Tim is known for his naturalistic cottage-style gardens. With over 15 years experience Tim has developed a distinct style that blends the traditional and modern, edible and ornamental.

His formal horticultural training provides a strong foundation in hands-on skills, and understanding of how plantings will work in real-world contexts. He has worked in some of Australia’s most renowned gardens including Garden of St Erth (Diggers), Sefton, and Paul Bangay’s Stonefields.

In his garden designs, Tim draws on the work of contemporary innovators such as Piet Oudolf, Jinny Blom, and Dan Pearson, and their ethereal style. The outcome is a much sought-after naturalistic aesthetic, applied to the Australian context.

A true plantsman, Tim’s exceptional plant knowledge and natural eye result in immersive planting design, blending indigenous plants with climate appropriate selections from around the world. His plant selections are highly sought after.

Tim’s work has been featured in Country Style magazine, Australian House & Garden, Gardening Australia, The Design Files, and Gardens Illustrated.

His first book, Wild by Design, is set to be released in September 2025.
